Break it Down: Historic Lewes Delaware Property types
Know as the "First Town in the First State" Lewes (pronounced Louis not Lews or Lou's) Delaware was founded in 1631 by the Dutch and named after the town Lewes in Sussex County England in 1682. Home of the Cape May - Lewes Ferry, Lewes Public Beach, the Lewes - Rehoboth Canal and Cape Henlopen State Park there is an abundance of activities all located within just a few short miles. Waterfront homes are priced well over one million dollars but just three miles from the beach lies McNicol Place with Mobile homes priced from $40,000 to over $80,000. West of Rt. one located along Rt. 9 and a five minute drive from the Beach you can find Sussex East and Sussex West with some of the lowest lot rents in the area. Home prices in Sussex East range from around $40,000 to $80,000. Sussex West is one of the only official 55 and over communities in the area. These are large newer homes and many of them have a garage. Prices range from $90,000 - $150,000. If a home near the Rehoboth Bay with boat access is more your style Angola Beach and Angola Estates are two communities with access to the bays spectacular flounder fishing and crabbing. Homes in Angola Beach have been priced from the mid 20,000's to over $100,000. Angola Estates is a newer community with home prices ranging from $30,000 all the way up to $180,000.
